Heritage Renovations
The Vancouver years — old houses kept standing
Before Grain, Dan spent years on heritage-retention renovations in Vancouver — stripping century homes back to their original planks, repairing rotten sills and foundations, reframing roofs, and re-siding mid-centuries in clear cedar. It's the hardest school there is for renovation work: nothing is square, nothing is standard, and everything has to be saved rather than replaced. That discipline is what Grain brings to every island renovation today.
